Why Traditional Filters Fail – And
How ClearFlow Solves It
PROBLEM
Sara Heger, PhD, researcher and instructor at the Water Resources Center at the University of Minnesota, wrote an article for Onsite Installer Magazine titled "Top 10 Reasons the Effluent Filter is Plugged."
The No. 1 Reason: "Large volumes of water used in a short amount of time can result in turbulence in the septic tank and reduced retention time, which can lead to solids plugging the effluent screen."
Ms. Heger cites leaks and large parties as examples of turbulence.
She also advises contractors to tell homeowners to do laundry
when water is not being used, only do one load at a time,
and spread it throughout the week.
SOLUTION
The ClearFlow Pressure Filter mounts on the pump’s discharge port; it is not affected by when and/or how much water is used.
Conserving water is important. At the same time, it is not realistic to expect homeowners to adhere to unrealistic standards, especially when there is an inexpensive solution.
A ClearFlow Pressure Filter eliminates backups and protects the drain field from solids reaching the force main and plugging orifices.
A ClearFlow Pressure Filter Adds Less Than 1% to The Cost Of A Pressurized Septic System
ClearFlow provides 83 GPM at 0.1 PSI (0.5 ft. head loss)
The screen is 40% open area; it functions normally even when it’s 90% clogged. When the pump runs, it creates a vortex, which creates a self-cleaning effect.

The 3”x 18” stainless steel screen provides 1/16” filtration
316L stainless steel contains molybdenum, an alloy that increases strength & hardness, and enhances resistance in corrosive environments.

Prevents solids from entering the force main and plugging orifices.
Works at full capacity even when 90% clogged
Self-cleaning stainless steel screen reduces maintenance
Alarm alerts users before clogging becomes an issue
